The 1.0.1 release of Serial of Champions is a bug fix release, correcting some compatibility problems with various communications applications and fixing some general errors. All errors I know about have been fixed with this release.
Here is a list of the things fixed:
• Serial of Champions now works correctly with:
• the America On-Line front end application
• the FirstClass Client
• AppleTalk Remote Access
• SmartCom's "Canvas" mode and zmodem transfers
• MicroPhone II (especially automated sessions)
• and possibly others. If you had trouble before, try this release and let
me know if you still have problems.
• Speeds greater than 9600 bps are now correctly handled and displayed.
• You get a nice message if you run the application without the INIT installed and
you can still do configuration and log viewing.
• the INIT's startup icon now behaves nicely with Now Utilities' startup manager.
• the preferences file now defaults the Status window refresh delay to 4 seconds.
• low memory situations are now anticipated and handled correctly.
NOTE: Although it may work, Serial of Champions was not designed to work with "INIT" level serial communications such as fax software and "network" software such as AppleTalk Remote Access. The types of protocols this class of software uses make some of the numbers ("Local" and "Remote" times) Serial of Champions fairly meaningless under many situations. Also, their operation can be, ummm, shakey at times anyway, without throwing in the additional complexity of Serial of Champions.
